Trip The Light Fantastic

ABOUT THE PIECE

There once was a man, a man who saw everything move but himself. He saw other people come and go, buildings rise up and crash down, peace and war, and every which way the earth shifted. But he himself never moved, never changed, and never became anything different. He was but ever still in a place that seemed everything but still. It was as if time never wanted to touch the man. That time stayed as far away from the man as possible and continued to touch everyone and everything else except for him.

“The Man Who Travelled Nowhere in Time” is a work based around a young man named Eytan. Eytan sees the world around him change, evolve, and grow yet he himself never changes. His journey is a quest to understand why he never ages and dies like the people around him. What he doesn’t know is that he only exists in the dreams and unconscious minds of others. Every day he sees people arrive passing through a hallway. This hallway is a place between reality and the unconscious mind. It is only in this place that he is in the same time and space as the other people who surround him. This work is  50-60 minutes in length, in two parts  (the second section titled Chapter II) and was presented at the opening night of Festival Quartiers Danse, in Montreal September 2017 and 2018 where it received a standing ovation.
